World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is a Christian humanitarian organization that focuses on children and provides relief, development, and advocacy services throughout Ethiopia. Our primary goal is to assist the most vulnerable children in overcoming poverty and achieving a fulfilling life. We assist children from all backgrounds, even in the most perilous situations, inspired by our Christian faith. Its mission is to positively impact the lives of millions of children and their families. Last year alone, WVE provided life-changing support and services to over 7.8 million people—children and adults, including boys and girls. As a member of the World Vision Partnership, WVE has a two-tier governance structure that includes a national Advisory Council and participation in the World Vision International Partnership, both of which are aligned with Partnership policies to promote efficient and effective operations. The WVE Friends Club is a dynamic and varied professional group dedicated to furthering WVE’s purpose and vision. Members of the Club act as advocates, fundraisers, and champions for vulnerable children and communities, adding to WVE’s work with their knowledge, influence, and networks. WVE Advisory Council is looking for highly qualified, motivated, and results driven leaders and influencers to join the WVE Friends Club. If you are a passionate and creative leader who wants to use your skills and talents to improve the lives of Ethiopian children, we ask you to join us on this transformative journey.

Vision Ethiopia and the overall World Vision Partnership, Commitment to devote at least 12 days per year to volunteer work, Former sponsored children, direct recipients, and officials from the WVE program areas are strongly invited to apply, Not currently working by World Vision or a close relative of a World Vision Ethiopia employee Not a former National Director of World Vision Ethiopia who served within the last three years. Women candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Who We Are Looking For?

The WVE Advisory Council is looking for highly qualified, motivated, and results-oriented leaders and influencers to join the WVE Friends Club. If you are a passionate and creative leader who wants to put your skills and abilities to work improving the lives of Ethiopian children, we ask you to join us on this transforming Journey 

AREAS OF EXPERTISE REQUIRED International NGO experience, humanitarian emergency response, advocacy, finance, risk management, strategic planning, human resource management, development studies, large-scale multinational business management, technical expertise in WVE program areas (e.g., Water, sanitation, and Hygiene, Education, Food Security, Nutrition, Gender, Inclusion, Livelihoods, Disaster Risk Resilience, Climate Resilience, Legal, Technology/ IT etc.)

KEY COMPETENCIES/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES Proficiency in English, both written and spoken Outstanding communication, public speaking, and presenting skills. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Fundraising expertise and experience, Strategic leadership and governance expertise, Understanding Ethiopia’s social, political, and economic environment, Capable of solving problems creatively.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA A love for the underprivileged and vulnerable children and a commitment to World Vision’s service, Not currently employed by World Vision or a close relative of a World Vision Ethiopia employee, Not a former National Director of World Vision Ethiopia who served within the previous three years, A reputation in Ethiopia for having great character and professional skill, as well as a willingness to follow the Mission Statement, Core Values, Statement of Faith, and World Policies.
